New Reality Television Show SHINES on the Web |

'Trailer Park Boys' stand aside! "My Drunken Dad" is here to stay. Mike, a 21 year old who lives with his father, decides one day he is going to tape his father's rants about things close to him. The only problem is, he is always drunk. Drunk enough so that he is totally oblivious of the camera Mike and his friend are using to film him.
The real Michael R. Davidson is 22 years old, and has always dreamed of having a television show that he can call his. So far things have not worked out for him. Creator Michael says: "I have had many chances to pitch show ideas to Corus and YTV, but none of them believed that a kid could come up with a great show idea, but I'll show them. Already I have people writing to me telling me how much they love the show and can't wait to see it turned into a 'real' show." Mike's drive, dedication and passion to be a producer in the industry brings something that most TV programs are lacking: HONESTY. Michael’s response: "I want the world to know what turns my crank. And hey, if people take offense to it, I'm sorry, got turn on the TV and watch Will and Grace." My Drunken Dad is making its mark on the web by reaching out to thousands of people all over the world young and old. The show itself is very basic; one or two cameras carefully positioned so the father will not notice. Sometimes you see Mike is actually holding a camera. Michael states: "It's all staged, but then again...there is NO SUCH THING AS REALITY TELEVISION. It makes me sick at the number of people who think TV is real. Yep, I just threw up in my mouth a little." Video podcasting is still a relatively new form of technology and it will appeal to a different audience than more traditional means of communication. Only time will tell whether this becomes the most popular way for television producers promote their show ideas. But for the time being it is certainly a new and innovative way of getting ideas out there."
