Glass News, a new website reporting consumer and industry news relating to the glazing business has been launched.
(Manchester, UK) A new website has launched which aims to bring the latest breaking news in the glass industry to both business and consumers. The site, Glass News, is located at http://www.glassnews.co.uk/ and features top-level news releases from some of the glass industry's main participants, along with relevant glass-related news from other companies around the world. All of the information is presented in an easy-to-navigate and easy-to-read structure, with the emphasis placed on maintaining a reading panel as large as possible, rather than allowing the screen to become overburdened with category lists and search boxes. Bobble Bardsley, founder of Glass News, said: "The fact that the domain www.glassnews.co.uk was still available shows that there are few people out there meeting the need for information to be given to the industry. "While we are UK-based, we do intend to carry news from around the world, with the main priority being to offer only top-level glass news - that is, information direct from the relevant company via a trusted source. "Where possible we plan to link through to the press release itself, so our readers can always be sure they're getting the whole story." The website is designed around xml, the format commonly used in delivering news articles over the internet and a technology which allows the latest information to be added to the site much faster. Unlike some other sites, Glass News makes no attempt to disguise the location of its central xml feed - meaning it may be added to newsreaders and future stories detected automatically, without the need to go to the Glass News main page. Glass News is also free of sponsorship, meaning the news which appears on the site carries no editorial bias - other than to focus on the most glass-relevant aspects of the story. As the archive of news grows, categories are planned to be introduced in order to help track the latest developing issues in the glass industry, with the commitment to easily readable content maintained. Mr Bardsley added: "In researching the site ahead of its creation, the news we found all points to a bright future for the glass industry. "Glass is something we use every day - to look through or drink out of, among other things - and we are keen to help our readers learn about the latest glass news as it breaks." Notes to Editors Glass News was founded by Bobble Bardsley in February 2008 and is based in Manchester, England. It was initially conceived after Mr Bardsley noted that the domain http://www.glassnews.co.uk/ had never been registered and that very few websites existed which covered the glass industry at a wide level. The site now operates with three core objectives - to present only high-level news such as that contained in press releases or financial updates, to offer such information in an easy-to-access and easy-to-read way, and to do so with the reader in mind, providing links to the original press release where possible. For more information about the site, or to have Glass News added to your company's press distribution list, email the editor at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . |
