This time it is Google who has been after the telecom industry. There are reports that Google is working on its own program in the most protected milieu of Silicon Valley. The company is developing a software platform for mobile phones. The software platform will put them directly against players like Microsoft and Apple.

Like Apple’s iPhone, the next in line can be a Googlefone. According to reports, Google amassed a good over $16 billion in 2007, and mostly from the advertising on it search results page. So, what can be the reason for growing interest in the telecom industry?

It is very simple if you compare the figures. The wireless industry in US is worth $135 billion. With Google apparatus the company can have a good share. This can be one of the reasons for Microsoft to knock at Yahoo.

The integration of PC, web and telecom would really be worth paying for. When something like that hits the market, people would definitely embrace it. Still, nothing conclusive can be said.

That would also take Google a bit out of advertising mode. Affiliate marketers and advertisers have little chance to make it big. But, with the shift-focus, things might come true.
