7 September, 2006 - Europe’s leading digital media house, AdLINK, has appointed Kate Burns, former managing director of Google UK, Benelux and Ireland, to evaluate its entry into the search market. Burns made her departure from Google this summer, and there has been speculation ever since about where she would go next. Having made history as Google’s first employee outside of the US, AdLINK is set to benefit greatly from her expertise and knowledge of the search market. In her new role, Burns will be working across the UK and internationally to assess AdLINK’s potential within the search space. No decisions have been made about AdLINK’s future within search, and Burns will advise on whether or not this is a good move for the company. Burns will be working in consultation with major advertising agencies and AdLINK’s clients and customers to make her decision. Andy Mitchell, managing director of AdLINK, comments: “Kate’s appointment is another indication of AdLINK’s corporate maturity and its corresponding ability to attract top talent. Alongside branded sales, network sales, email, domain and affiliate marketing, we must now understand how we can operate within the search sector. And who better to help us with that than Kate Burns.”
Kate Burns, commenting on her appointment, says: “I have enjoyed a much needed break over the past couple of months, and I am now ready to return. I respect AdLINK for its intelligent and exploratory approach to search, and I look forward to investigating its opportunities within this space.” Lloyd Gofton
