Baby Sign Online, the UK’s biggest baby signing community website, has just launched its impressive revamped website. The new site is bursting with fantastic new features and the friendly community is quickly making it the UK’s baby signing ‘place to be’. The site teaches parents, families and child care professionals how to use sign language to communicate with hearing babies before they can talk. The new site focuses on bringing its members together to share their baby signing experiences and support each other, and includes a whole host of social networking features. Members can chat in the forums, upload their baby signing photos to the galleries, take part in surveys and competitions and link to each other to create their own social networks. Membership is growing rapidly and Baby Sign Online is quickly becoming the online ‘place to be’ for baby signers in the UK. The membership site also includes a complete online baby signing course, dictionary, songs, games and other resources. So members can access baby signing information 24/7 without needing to attend a class. Members also get the added online support of resident baby signing expert Nicola Smout. In fact the site has everything that’s needed for members to start signing with their babies all in the one place. For full details of membership please visit Baby Sign Online. Members also play an essential role in the development of the site and the community and are actively involved in the development of new features for the site. There is currently a whole host of new features in development which are due to be released soon. With this ethic of co-operation and shared ownership members are steadily building the site up to be the biggest British Baby Signing Community on the web. Baby Sign Online founder Nicola Smout says “This is the first proper baby signing community website in Britain. I was inspired to set up the site because I was qualified in BSL and I signed with my baby and really wanted to spread the message about the benefits of baby signing. I was also frustrated that there were no classes local to me, plus I was a working mum so time was very limited. I wanted to provide something that was accessible and flexible for busy parents. Since setting the site up we have also attracted a lot of interest from child care professionals. The site provides both online training in baby sign language and a friendly community who support each other. It makes a big difference for people to be able to get together and chat and share their experiences. We’re providing everything you would get from a class and more; because you can access the site 24/7 and there are lots of resources to print out and keep. Plus we like to involve our members in decisions about the direction of the site so it really is the member’s own community.” The site is also offering a range of special offers, visitors can sign up to the mailing list and have free baby signing flash cards and tips delivered to their inbox every week. And they are also giving away their eBook ‘How to Sign with Your Baby’ for free to anyone who signs up as a full site member. The Baby Sign Online site was recently reviewed and recommended by MSN Author and Child Care and Educational Consultant Selena Ledgerton Cooper who had this to say; “I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, the site was fantastic! …I'm sure it's great if you have a baby signing class near you but if you're short on time or a working mum-to-be like me, this is the answer. It's great! … (Review by Selena Ledgerton Cooper Childcare and Education Consultant / Author The full review can be found here baby signing review
