Launch of TakeABid.com puts Wage before Beauty

Next month the world’s first auction site devoted to the Hair and Beauty Treatment industries launches in Scotland.  TakeABid provides hundreds of offers from prestigious salons and spas across the country – all at rock-bottom auction reserves and BuyNow prices.

Big Beautiful Business
The beauty industry is worth over £3 billion per year to the UK economy, with the number of salons currently expanding at a rate of 8% per year, and includes a huge number of small businesses offering luxurious treatments, but lacking the means to advertise widely.

TakeABid gives local salons and spas a global reach – attracting tourists who want to be pampered during their Scottish tour, as well as local customers, whether they’re looking for a luxury spa day for less, or just a good old-fashioned Scottish bargain on their next haircut.

Luxuries and Lolly
Kate Ward of TakeABid commented:

‘Everyone loves a good deal, especially on little luxuries – but until now there’s been no easy way to hunt for a bargain on hair, beauty or spa treatments.  TakeABid aims to change all that.  It gives salons the chance to reach out to new customers, and customers the chance to treat themselves more often.’

The website has already gone live with offers across Central Scotland, and will launch officially in April when a radio and press advertising campaign will kick off.  As well as Hair and Beauty, other planned categories include Entertainment and Dining Out – offering customers a bargain whether they want a new look or the chance to show it to the world.

Kate also plans to expand across the UK: ‘With over 14,000 hair salons alone in this country, there’s plenty of scope to increase our reach’.

Background:
TakeABid.com is the brainchild of Kate Ward (32).  Kate has zigzagged from physics to IT to business in her career, and manages to look after her two small children as she juggles her business and professional interests.  She lives in Cumbernauld, which she insists is much nicer than people think.
