Girl [racer] power becomes highlight of the 2nd London Motorsport Show |

Last weekend saw the 2nd London Motorsport Show take place at the ExCel Centre, London where, as part of Girlracer™, many of the top female drivers in British Motorsport gathered to showcase their cars and offer advice to women wanting a career in motorsport. The MG belonging to the most successful woman to race in the BTCC, Fiona Leggate, was on display, as was soon to be British GT driver, Anna Walewska with her Dodge Viper. Cassey Watson, an upcoming driver in the Ginetta Junior championship and Dawn Boyd from the UK Mini Challenge Championship also joined forces as part of the “Women in Motorsport” area. Also present were the 2006 Silverstone rally school Ladyquest winner, Becky Kirvan, and VW racer Karen Andrews. It wasn’t just four wheeled Motorsport that was represented, as the impressive Motorcycle racer Sam Burnam displayed her Honda RS 125cc on the Girlracer ™ stand. Even Motorsport on the water was covered with National and European Championship winning Power Boat racer Sarah Donohue sharing her experiences. Girlracer ™ Director Gary Wood declared the event “a unique opportunity for the racers to meet and discuss their on-track successes and to showcase their talents within, what is predominantly, a male orientated sport.” Girlracer ™ is a lifestyle brand and a free online resource for the promotion of women and girls in motorsport and extreme sports.
