The Plough Wavendon has received the highest rating in the UK's new Scores On The Doors environmental health awards. The Plough Wavendon has become one of the first restaurants in the Milton Keynes area to receive a prestigious environmental health award. The fine-dining establishment, which only officially opened its doors in July, has been given a five star rating – the highest grade possible – in the new “Scores On The Doors” scheme. This puts The Plough Wavendon in the top 5% of establishments which have so far been inspected by Milton Keynes Council.“Scores On The Doors” is a national scheme designed to ensure that food premises operators comply with food hygiene legislation and structural requirements for their premises, and provide confidence in the management of the business. Anybody may log onto the website and check if their local restaurant has been rated and, if so, what were the results. An Environmental Health spokesman from MK Council explained, “This is a really transparent system, whereby customers will be able to see just how well their favourite eatery performs in terms of hygiene practices.” The Plough Wavendon’s five star certificate and wall plaque will be on display in the restaurant, and head chef Grant Hawthorne says that this important accreditation is recognition of the excellent team work and ongoing commitment from the owners and staff. “The festive season is just around the corner,” he comments, “and I’m delighted that guests can now book their Christmas lunch or dinner with the added reassurance that not only will the meal taste delicious but that it has been prepared to the highest possible food hygiene standards.” The Plough Wavendon is open daily from noon, and its menu includes a pre-theatre dinner served between 5.30pm and 7.00pm. The Terrace is open for non-diners who wish to enjoy a drink from the bar. Call +44 (0)1908 587576 for enquiries and reservations. - e n d s - |
