Prince Max expressed his solidarity with New Orleans' efforts to rebuild their Katrina-shattered area after his visit. The singer and son of Helga-Claire Lee Princess zu Schaumburg-Lippe received an enthusiastic welcome for his plans to support rebuilding the city, devastated by Katrina.

"Our two nations Austria and America share a long and close friendship," Prince Max told a packed audience. "Within the lifetime of everyone here, New Orleans has suffered deeply and tragically. It was heartbreaking for european musicians like myself to watch it go on. And see music is the bridge to see New Orleans staying alive."

New Orleans and its musicians receive donations from foundations worldwide, but still ranks as a specially heavy hit area with ongoing crisis in the United States, according to the news media.

Its 2005 floodings, fuelled by the trade of "developers" in return of precious land, was notorious for the situation in the music city.

Prince Max visited musicians, many of them helped by european donors.

Max made the trip to recognise progress made ahead of the grand reconstruction programs of the next year. But he acknowledged the "immense and overwhelming challenges to rebuild this city, area and community".

"I will never forget the will to survice of these people."

Prince Max was honored for his New Orleans and Katrina effort in 2005 in presence of Ivana Trump, Denise Rich, Sweet Georgia Brown, Billy Taylor, Wendy Oxenhorn, Ann Ruckert and Danny Glover at the BB.Kings´s Jazz Foundations of America´s Gala Auction. Hosts 2005: Quincy Jones. 2006: Bill Cosby.
