A FOURTH CRUISE TERMINAL, COSTING ALMOST £25M, IS TO BE BUILT AT SOUTHAMPTON IT HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED. THE TERMINAL IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETED IN 2009. THIS NEWS COINCIDES WITH CARNIVAL CORPORATIONS REPORT THAT THEY HAVE SIGNED A DEAL THAT WILL SEE P&O, PRINCESS, CUNARD AND OCEAN VILLAGE USING SOUTHAMPTON PORT AS THEIR HOME BASE FOR A MINIMUM OF A FURTHER 20 YEARS. IT IS EXPECTED THAT OVER 800,000 CRUISE PASSENGERS WILL HAVE PASSED THROUGH SOUTHAMPTON THIS YEAR AND THAT THIS FIGURE WILL BE NEARER 1 MILLION IN 2009. |
