* Birmingham City Council nearly had to switch off up to 600 CCTV cameras to avoid falling foul of new Security Industry Authority regulations.
* The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has produced new user guides to detector-activated, remotely monitored CCTV, and to the new European standards on intruder alarms.
* Strip clubs in Scotland are being urged to sign up to a voluntary agreement that will see CCTV cameras being fitted as a matter of course.
