Tesco Home Insurance is slashing hundreds of pounds off the cost of cover by offering a 50% discount.

The offer is available to all new customers who obtain a quote and go on to buy the policy within 90 days. On a 3-bedroom home in Birmingham, for example, the saving could be worth £117 a year. Enough to buy a new video MP3 player or satellite navigation system!

The discount applies to the first year's premium for both building and contents insurance.

Allan Burns, head of Home Insurance says: "This is a great saving and it's worth getting a quote even if your policy doesn't expire for a couple of months."

The offer expires on the 5th March 2008.
