Kilnaboy, County Clare, 8th February 2008 - Minister of State Tony Killeen, T.D. today expressed optimism that repair works would shortly be carried out on roads in various townlands around Kilnaboy.
The Clare T.D. said he had been inundated with calls from motorists and local residents about the state of the roads following the laying of water mains in the area. He added that the repair works were the responsibility of the contractor that had been employed by the local Group Water Scheme trustees. “I have learned that a legal agreement exists between both parties stipulating that the contractor rectify defective trench reinstatements along the scheme. I am aware that Clare County Council has reminded the contractor of its obligations and, therefore, would be hopeful of repair works being carried out in the very near future”, stated Minister Killeen. The Kilnaboy native continued, “I am very concerned about the state of the roads along sections of the scheme and will continue to liaise with the local authority, Group Scheme Organisers and the contractor until such time as the repair works have been completed.” -ENDS- Notes to Editor: Mark Dunphy |
