Greek Company demands expulsion of the Greek Industrialists Association from the Greek Antitrust Authority .Legal breakthrough !14-7-2008
For the first time since the foundation of the Greek Antitrust Authority in 1977 a Greek Company officially demands expulsion of the Greek Industrialists Association (SEB) from the Greek Antitrust Authority.
It is the first time an official demand was submited to the Greek Government by a private company, to expel the representation of the powerful Greek Industrialists Association from The Greek Competition Commission based on the conflict of interests principle. STOPCARTEL Organization had already submited to the Greek Government since last year a proposal to withdraw the participation of the Greek Industrialists Association from the Greek Competition Commission, based on the above principle of conflict of interests. It has been expressed that is not possible a member of the Antitrust Authority that checks and desides, to be at the same time the party that is checked for violations of the Antitrust laws. The said private Company has submited to the Greek Competition Commission 20 months ago an Antitrust complain concerning a hard core price fixing cartel in one of the Industrial sectors of Greece. The main companies, forming the cartel are members of the Greek Industrialists Association that is a member of the Greek Competition Commission since 1977! It is explicit that the representatives of the Greek Industrial Association have direct or at least indirect interest so the charge for cartel between members of the Association they represent, does not flourish .
The above move consists a major legal breakthrough in a country where the economy is completely controled by various cartels and monopolies. Send e-mails of support to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
