Much has been written and said about the credit crunch some accurate, some speculation. An editorial in this month's Commercial Finance Introducer by the editor Nia Williams states that she feels she should apologise as a journalist "for being part of the media which seems to be writing us into a recesion". This is one of the most accurate confessions to appear in print since this 'crisis' began. We have talked ourselves into falling houseprices and now we are talking oursleves into a recession. Fatuous news items, falsely claiming this lender and that lender have withdrawn from the market place, when they have only withdrawn a single, over subscribed product, do little to lift confidence. This echoes the reporting of the Northern Rock situation which escalated into panic when language such as 'emergency loan' were widely reported. Journalistic responsibilty goes further than sensationising every spoken and written report. All that said the world is still going round, and whilst finance has changed and it will be some time before the easy times of the last few years return, if indeed they ever will, a 'normalising' of the situation has occured. Borrowing is more difficult, criteria has tightened and rates have increased but there is still finance available to the right proposition. Bob Rushton, Managing Director of Business Finance Advisory Service Ltd. said " we have noticed a sharp increase in the flow of enquiries coming in to us, and with care and patience it has been possible to meet the aspirations of the applicants at a level only just lower than prior to the problems" For additional information on the news that is the subject of this release (or for a sample, copy or demo), contact Webmaster or visit www.bfas.org.uk |
