With spring on the way and therefore the annual rise in the number of house sales, UK Energy Saving has published their Homebuyer’s Energy Efficiency Checklist on their website, www.uk-energy-saving.com. Finding and buying a new home can be a stressful time, but it is worth considering energy efficiency when making a move as this could save buyers money in the long run. The UK Energy Saving Homebuyer’s Energy Efficiency Checklist includes key pointers when looking for a new property as well as energy saving tips for immediately after moving in. A few important factors for potential buyers to consider include whether the house is double glazed, sufficiently insulated and draught proofed, as these are all measures which will save considerable money on heating bills. As a move often leads to an increase in mortgage payments, reducing the size of the bills could be at least helpful if not essential. Once the move has been made, the UK Energy Saving Homebuyer’s Energy Efficiency Checklist gives some tips on energy saving in the immediate aftermath. Whilst unpacking can take a while, many of these tips take minutes rather than hours. Simply checking the heating and water thermostats and considering switching to a green electricity tariff when changing to the new owner’s name will save money.
