Limerick County Council Lifts Second Water Boil Notice

Thursday, 28 August 2008 - Limerick County Council, following consultation with the Health Service Executive, has today removed a boil water notice that was affecting customers in Pallasgreen, County Limerick. The notice was put in place on August 22nd, 2008 following the detection of E-Coli. Extensive testing by the local authority's Environmental Laboratory staff has shown that the water being supplied to the Pallasgreen Water Supply Scheme continues to meet the drinking water standards. According to Paul Crowe, Director of Services Transportation & Water Services, Limerick County Council, 'The introduction of a boil notice was deemed a necessary precautionary measure to ensure that public health was not put at risk. Limerick County Council will continue to monitor the water supply to ensure compliance with water quality standards. The Council would like to thank the public for their support.' Earlier this week, the Water Services Authority lifted another boil notice affecting hundreds of customers of the Rockhill Public Water Supply.
