PRESS RELEASE

February 1st 2008  Plastic Packaging Recovery Europe Ltd (PPR Europe) are pleased to announce the decision of the City of London Corporation at Billingsgate Market , to install at this world renowned Fish Market the ‘Clean Heat Packer’ Plastic Recycling Machine for the recycling of the Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Fish Boxes. After extensive investigation and evaluation by the Technical Staff at Billingsgate of all of the various technologies available- the Clean Heat Packer Model E20-K23 manufactured in Japan for the Pana Chemical Company was chosen. This technology developed in Japan, and distributed throughout Europe by Plastic Packaging Recovery Europe Ltd. Is the most widely used equipment in that country where over 2000 machines are installed. The Pana Chemical Company has been in the forefront of all of the significant developments for the recycling of Expanded Polymers for the past 30 years and have installed their systems at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo where  equipment similar to that now employed at Billingsgate is recycling as much as 25 tons of EPS Fish Boxes each day. The “Clean Heat Packer” at Billingsgate will process and recycle all of the waste fish boxes which until now were being sent to Landfill.  The machine will process those boxes and the processed material will be purchased by PPR for return to various Plastic items such as CD cases, Toys etc The decision by the Management at Billingsgate to opt for the recycling of the Fish Boxes and to cease sending this valuable resource material to Landfill is another indication of the desire to enhance the environmental image of the Market and as a further contribution in reducing it’s ‘carbon footprint’ Further information about the operation and implementation of the EPS Fish Box Recycling scheme at Billingsgate Market should be directed to the project leader:- Stephen Mould, Head of Maintenance, C/o Billingsgate Market Trafalgar Way, Poplar, London E14 5ST-
