Laura Spawn is a telecommuter turned telecommute employer.  When she founded VirtualVocations in 2006, her goal was to provide a comprehensive listing of legitimate work at home positions for jobseekers.  Today, having accomplished much of that goal, she is now ready to expand her services and focus on helping employers who would like to hire telecommuters.  Over the last two years, VirtualVocations has grown to include Mrs. Spawn and seven additional telecommuters who help keep the site running smoothly.

"When I first started out, it was just me and a family member working on the website, pretty much as a hobby," Spawn says, "Today, it is amazing to me that it has grown so much as to require the work of eight people to keep it running."  With the experience of a telecommuter, and now as the head of a full telecommuting team, Laura is looking to expand her website to help business owners who would like to hire remotely as well.

VirtualVocations currently receives over 100,000 page views a month, with over 30,000 emails sent out on a daily and weekly basis, listing new job openings for telecommuters.   Employers are able to submit as many telecommute positions as they would like at no cost through the employer page on VirtualVocations.  In addition to free job posting, a consultation is also available at no charge to help businesses who are interested in transitioning to telecommuting learn how they can take their business virtual.

Aaron Abber from FullTiltBlogging.com wrote about VirtualVocations' employer services saying, "I just wanted to write and commend you on the high quality of the applicants I am receiving from your site. I had posted a job offering on another board and had been disappointed in the quality of the applicants I was seeing. Someone picked up the posting from the other board and placed it here.  Suddenly I found a wealth of high-quality applicants.  Next time I'll come here first."

VirtualVocation applicants are paying subscribers, which helps to decrease the number of unqualified contacts an employer receives.  "Lots of people want to work from home, but most of the time they will only pay to apply to a listing if they are really qualified for the job.  This helps to reduce the time employers spend sifting through hundreds of applications, which is usually the case when a telecommute position is posted on a job board that is free to jobseekers," Mrs. Spawn stated.  We hope to achieve our goal over the next two years of becoming the leading telecommute job board for employers to utilize in hiring well qualified, remote employees.  From past history, it looks like VirtualVocations is well on it's way to achieving that goal.
