People of the Year Human Rights Awards 2007 RADAR, the national pan-disability campaigning organisation, is encouraging HR managers to send in nominations for the annual People of the Year Awards 2007. HR Managers, particularly those that specialise in diversity will be particularly interested to know that they can nominate their own company for the Employment Award: for excellence in reasonable adjustments for disabled employees. Many companies enter these awards each year, especially those that embrace disability as an integral part of their equal opportunities and practices. Previous winners were InterContinental Hotels Group (2005) and Lloyds TSB (2007). This event, now in its 41st year, is the only awards ceremony of its kind in Europe that honours the work of individuals and companies who have made significant progress towards the furtherance of human rights for disabled people. Over the years, the People of the Year Awards have built a reputation for delivering serious social messages. BBC political correspondent, Reeta Chakrabarti, will host this year’s black tie evening ceremony. Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE will be joined by other celebrity figures and government ministers in presenting the awards. Steve Day and Chris McCausland, comedians from the award-winning Abnormally Funny People will be providing the entertainment.
