SkillsTrain Project Africa Joining With UK Schools

SkillsTrain Project Africa is an initiative from the leading UK based ICT training company SkillsTrain. The Project aims to bring a UK classroom and UK teachers to children and young people from previously disadvantaged schools in South Africa.

In June 2008 SkillsTrain Project Africa will go into the next phase of its development.  Project Africa will first teach children and young people in South Africa about life in the UK using the Live Internet Training platform.  They will then go on to join schools in South Africa with schools in the UK.

This will involve children from schools in the UK being able to directly communicate with kids of the same age in South Africa using the Live Internet Training platform.  They will be able to speak to each other, show photographs, even draw on the same whiteboard.

Myra Smallman, said, “The Project is progressing extremely well.  We are looking for UK schools that would like to take part in classes which we conduct with schools in South Africa”.

“The information exchange part of the Project goes LIVE at the end of June, so schools should apply, via our website as soon as possible”.   “We also want to hear from schools in the UK that would like to join in this exciting and unique project, as well as community project leaders in South Africa who have PCs with Internet connections which they would be willing to allow children and young people from their local area to use in order to receive Live Internet Training, as well as schools in South Africa”.

LIVE Internet training means that children can interact with teachers and other pupils thousands of miles away – teachers can use whiteboards to show the pupils concepts, as well as many other teaching aids.  It brings UK schools and South African schools together.

Applications can be made directly via the SkillsTrain Project Africa web site which can be found at:
