Aware of imminent major changes in the Education Sector, linked to Government funding, Rhema Group is providing training programmes, aimed at individual schools and school clusters, which are designed to equip teachers with the wide range of ‘soft skills’ they now require to make the Government’s blueprint for schools a reality. Addressing key issues successfully will require Heads and teachers at all levels to embrace, lead and manage change at a very sophisticated level. On their own admission this is a challenge for which they have been ill-prepared. IQ is rapidly being replaced by EQ (Emotional Intelligence) as the arbiter of their success. The Government’s agenda for schools together with their Building Schools for the Future initiative (a massive £45Bn investment in school buildings and ICT) is creating change in the schools market which is both immense and transformational. Challenges for Head Teachers and their Senior Management Teams include: · The need to work with other schools to deliver new diploma lines for 14 to 19 year olds. · Work – related learning including the use of Para-Professionals and Business Partnerships. · The introduction of a remodelled examination structure. · Schools working in partnership with other schools and other providers of learning. · Teachers with new Teaching and Learning Responsibilities working in new structures. · Inclusion of non – teachers on the staff of a school. · The Government’s “Every Child Matters” agenda. · Raising of the school leaving age. Addressing these key issues successfully will require teachers at all levels to embrace, lead and manage change at a very sophisticated level. On their own admission this is a challenge for which they have been ill-prepared. IQ is rapidly being replaced by EQ (Emotional Intelligence) as the arbiter of their success. Aware of these changes in the Education Sector, Rhema Group is providing training programmes, aimed at individual schools and school clusters, which are designed to equip teachers with the wide range of ‘soft skills’ they now require to make the Government’s blueprint for schools a reality. The training programmes focus on three key elements: · Confronting the changes required as a school or as a cluster and planning to deliver necessary changes. · Identifying and acquiring the skills required as a leader and manager of change as a Head Teacher or Teacher. · Identifying and acquiring the skills required to empower others to deliver change at their level.
Rhema Group MD Jeremy Francis commented “When it comes to implementing significant and long lasting change the emphasis all too often is on the physical and tangible deliverables. Changing the layout of a school building, upgrading the ICT and sharing resources in a new and imaginative way will only deliver optimum results if those involved can work well together in an interdependent world in which benefits need to be delivered for all concerned. This requires real insight into human interactions and this is what we intend to impart. Early signs are that there is a real hunger for this emotional intelligence from teachers at all levels”.
