INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WORLD POETRY AND NATIONAL POETS MEET: 2008 February 16th, 17th 2008 -60 poets from across the Country at the DAV Centre for Creative Education, New Panvel Panvel, 21st February 2008: The DAV Centre for Creative Education, New Panvel is hosting the first two day International Conference on World Poetry and National Poets Meet 2008 on Feb 16th and 17th 2008. The program has been inaugurated today at the hands of Dr. Jayant Mahapatra in the august presence of other poets, critics and the President for the 1st session, Shri K.G. Purohit alias Shantaram, - famous short story writer in Marathi. The program is the brainchild of Dr. K.B. Kushal, Director, DIEMR (Dayanand Institute of Education Management and Research) and a poet himself. The International CONFERENCE ON WORLD POETRY AND INTERNATIONAL POETS MEET 2008 comes under the auspices of Dayanand Anglo Vedic Centre for Creative Education, New Panvel. DAVCCE is an integral part of DAYANAND INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION MANAGEMENTAND RESEARCH established in 2001. Over 60 Poets and Critics were present from the country Poetry continues to be in focus for its inherent ability to offer profound insights into our social, emotional and spiritual explorations. Apart from its enriching recreational value, the rich and diverse poetic creations empower us to confront contemporary predicaments. These are strange times. We shout slogans for peace and harmony but are engaged to strengthen our nuclear arsenal. We talk of global alleviation of hunger, poverty and deprivation, yet our minds tend to focus on self- centered materialistic prosperity. • The poetry being eclectic and integrative art has always empowered us to perceive with more clarity the contemporary and futuristic roles. • This World Conference is an opportunity to rediscover the magic and power of poetry. • It is an invitation to appreciate the new bold experiments and transformation in the poetic landscapes. Highlights of the two day Meet - Critical Paper Reading Sessions will be held
- Well rehearsed, compact & innovative cultural presentations will be staged by the students and teachers of DAV Group of Institutions (Western Region)
- A special Souvenir containing selected poems and papers will be published and released on the closing day of the conference. Copies will be given to all participants.
- Special Guest lectures on Indian Poetry in English and also on World Poetry Today will be arranged.
- Special tour programme will be arranged to scenic and climatically pleasant places like Matheran, Khandala,Lonawala provided
