Pune, Friday 29th December, 2007: INDEPTH is an International platform of demographic sites that provides health and demographic data and research to enable developing countries to set health priorities and policies based on longitudinal evidence. INDEPTH's data and research will be used to guide the cost effective use of tools, interventions and systems to ensure and monitor progress towards international goals. Today their website www.indepth-datasharing.org was launched at the Mohini Chabbria convention hall at I2IT, Hinjewadi. Present on the occasion were Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Chief Mentor – I2IT, Shri B.G. Deshmukh, Ex Principle Secretary, Govt. of India, Shri Siddhivinayak Hirve, Director of Vadu Rural Health Program, Shri Dayanand Shetty, Director Academic, KEM and Shri Madan Deshpande, Medical Director, Desai Eye Hospital. The Project Purpose: To develop a prototype for web based data sharing – building capacity in data management across Vadu -India, Kanchanaburi - Thailand and Wosera – Papua New Guinea. The design and development of this project has been done by the students of the I2IT Institute under the guidance of faculty members as a goodwill gesture from the management of the institute towards society.
