Parents’ magazine Primary Life has teamed up with Dame Jacqueline Wilson to encourage budding authors in Airdrie and Coatbridge. She is set to judge a book review competition featured in the March issue of Primary Life. The competition will encourage children to write about how a book of their choice made them feel, what they thought to the characters and their likes and dislikes. The winning entry will not only receive a signed certificate from Dame Jacqueline – who was the Children’s Laureate from 2005 to 2007 – but they will also win book tokens. What’s more, they will see their work in print, since the winning review will be published in the May edition of Primary Life Magazine. Publisher Denise Connelly says: “We wanted to do something fun to encourage literacy in the March issue in time for World Book Day on 6 March. What better way to do it than a book review judged by one of the most popular children’s authors of our time? We hope this will encourage local children to pick up a book and would like to think it’s something that parents and children can do together.” Jacqueline – who is interviewed in the March edition of Primary Life Magazine – has inspired children and given them a new route into reading. Hopefully this competition will do the same. Ends Notes to editors Primary Life is the only lifestyle magazine for parents and teachers in Coatbridge and Airdrie. www.primarylifemagazine.co.uk Contact: Denise Connelly 01236 727 100 This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
