Chicago, Illinois --Joshua Lambert, 8, of Northfield, Illinois, will help kick off the opening of the Chicago Antique Market’s first Junior Collector Club as special guest speaker alongside his father, Daryle S. Lambert, author of the new book, “31 Steps To Your Millions In Antiques & Collectibles”, Saturday, June 30^th at 12 Noon. Lambert, author of the new book, “31 Steps To Your Millions In Antiques & Collectibles”, Saturday, June 30^th at 12 Noon. (www.chicagoantiquemarket.com) (www.31corp.com) An avid collector with a keen eye for value, Joshua will showcase his impressive collection from the many treasure hunts he and his father have taken together. Mr. Lambert will speak to parents about the joys and benefits of collecting with your children, share insights from his book, and kids and parents alike will learn how to start their own valuable collections. “The collecting bug bit Joshua when he was 3-years-old,” says Joshua’s father. “I would catch him sifting through and playing with box lots of toys at auctions he attended with me. He always questioned how much various items cost and always asked why I bought certain items. I explained to him that if I bought at the right price, I could make money by selling them, if I wanted to sell. When Joshua was 5, he decided he wanted to make his own money, so Daryle and his wife, Vickie, started several piggy banks for Joshua to save his own money, with one specifically for buying antiques & collectibles. Joshua eagerly learned how to count his money, and at house sales, he carefully calculated whether he had enough cash to purchase an item he liked. Later, Joshua watched while his father used the internet to do research and check prices. He soon learned how to research and price out items himself. At house sales, he began to learn to bargain with the sellers, so he could buy items at the price he wanted, in order to profit if he sold them. All things cowboy related were the items that Joshua first collected. He soon became fascinated with trains and other forms of transportation and collected these items. In between that time, he collected coins, snow globes and racing collectibles, particularly anything related to his favorite NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart. The latest items to invade the Lambert home are the Webkinz animals. “Collecting has been very beneficial to my relationship with Joshua,” says his dad. “It has given us a great opportunity to grow very close to one another through this common interest. My wife also hunts for treasures on the weekend, and it gives us a wonderful family activity. From an educational point of view, Joshua continues a “hands on” learning experience in history, math, art, computers, business and economics through this activity. The greatest part of all of this is that we get to spend a tremendous amount of time together. I believe parents would be doing their children a great service if they got involved in collecting and started their children collecting at an early age.” Mr. Lambert started collecting as a child, and the coin collection he started as a 9-year-old later paid for his entire college education. Today, at 8-years-old, Joshua, is a skilled collector, able to make good buying decisions. Of course, he still likes his dad along to hunt for treasure to reassure him that whatever he is buying is worth the price he pays. Joshua and Daryle Lambert will be speaking at 12 Noon, June 30^th, at the Chicago Antique Market at 1300 West Randolph Street in Chicago’s West Loop district. The market, hailed by Travel and Leisure as one of the top three national urban antique markets, takes place the final Saturday and Sunday of each month through October from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. and features more than 200 dealers selling everything from a wide range of antiques to vintage collectibles. The indoor/outdoor market has earned a national reputation as one of the finest in North America, and has been compared to the Paris Flea Market.
