Are we about to see a mass exodus from the UK as buyers desert the UK housing market

The British are not only buying  overseas property for holiday homes but  increasingly to enable them to leave the UK and live abroad.

Are we about to see a mass exodus from the UK? Will this cause the UK Housing market to crash?

With the cooling UK housing market and a dramatic increase in housing prices, those looking to sell property in the UK are having a hard time deciding what to do, it's also getting pretty impossible for new buyers to get a foot on the hosuing ladder market. UK house prices are still increasing, actually up by 5.3% in November 2006, where is the predicted slowdown?

Richard Place of UK-Directory.org and Ripla suggests that the supply of homes is the cause for the pricing increase. "There just aren't as many homes available!" he said" And more and more people are investing their money in property abroad, that makes property in the UK something that’s hard to find".

The British are not only buying  overseas property for holiday homes but  increasingly to enable them to leave the UK and live abroad. The UK housing market has been kind for many home owners giving them large amounts of equity to spend on a home overseas. The prospect of the UK winter and low cost airlines is also playing a part in making owning a property abroad irresistible. Added to that the difficulty young first time buyers have in finding property in their local area, the availability of far improved communications, the opening of European borders and commuting, it is not always necessary to live as close to your source of income as it once was.
