Elkie Winston and Donna Garrioch, two friends with a shared passion for designing contemporary jewellery and accessories, decided to bite the bullet and set up their own business, and thus Eldon Designs was born. Based in Leicester, mainly in Donna’s dining room and spare room, the online shop (www.eldondesigns.co.uk) was launched in March 2006. Donna, a qualified accountant by trade who decided to take a career break after having her son in June 2005, and Elkie, a team leader for a car rental company, have been good friends for nearly five years. Both felt that they wanted to expand their creative talents further and a late night discussion after a couple of bottles of wine saw their idea for a business start to take shape. The rest as they say, is history. Eldon designs handcraft affordable jewellery and accessories, such as bag charms and key rings, using amongst other things, Sterling Silver, Swarovski Crystals, Semi-Precious stones and fantastic glass beads which they source from all over the world. They are constantly looking for new and interesting materials and coming up with fresh designs. They also offer a bespoke design service and will design pieces to a customer’s exact requirements. They are currently working on expanding their contemporary bridal jewellery range. Their long term aim is to have a nationally recognised name and to have their designs stocked in boutiques and department stores nationwide. “ We realise that there is a lot of competition in the jewellery market but believe we offer something a bit different- collections that are unique, fresh, but most of all affordable. It is our philosophy that every woman deserves to feel special and we design all of our jewellery with this in mind.” Says Donna Garrioch, Partner in Eldon Designs. |
