Urmall.co.uk (your mall!) launched today 21 July 07, a new shopping search engine aimed to make searching for products and services easier and more relevant. Urmall.co.uk creator Andrew Stanley says “ the idea for urmall.co.uk came about whilst I was looking for car insurance on Google and Yahoo, some of the search results that came up were relevant to car insurance but were about car insurance rather than car insurance companies, also when the results come up in the search engines you are presented with the top ten list of results, these results contain mostly what the insurance companies write about themselves to get good results in the search engines and rarely don’t contain the information I wanted to make a decision on whether or not visit their site. I decided to there and then to build my own site that users would be able to find all the information they need to make a decision on whether to visit that companies website or not. So I conducted research on what people would want from a search, the resounding reply cam back as “relevant content”, this would be in the form of a logo, a short description and benefits of the product or service. What also came up in the research was that searchers want an easy to navigate site, nice to look at but not crammed with flash, no flashing banners in the search results and no pop ups, so I incorporated all these ideas and came up with urmall.co.uk”. The site has launched with 14 categories within the finance , insurance and mobile phone sectors to see how the site is perceived and to iron out any problems or issues that might arise. 400 categories are planned to cover everything a shopper could ever want to buy from the internet and bring 10 relevant results in each category in an easy to use, easy to understand format.
“ We aim that once all the categories are complete, that searchers will use urmall.co.uk rather than Yahoo and Google because we save them time and provide a better user experience that is more relevant” Andrew Stanley.
