PRESS RELEASE one -16/1/2007

Harvest: Bath UK

Welcomes all our customers to our freshly refitted Local Harvest Shop on Walcot Street.

At the end of February we look forward to welcoming all our customers into our fabulously and freshly refitted Harvest Natural Food Shop on Walcot Street. As a local worker’s co-operative we have remained at the forefront of the real food revolution, supplying our customers with natural, entirely non-GMO and assuredly vegetarian range since 1971. However it has been well over 10 years since we last spruced up the place, and with its cracks, creaky floor boards and hanging wires the old shop is looking decidedly tired.

On Friday February 9th we are going to close our doors for 2 weeks while we carry out a full shop makeover whilst enhancing our own special characteristics. We plan to re-open Monday 26th February and we hope to offer you an altogether enhanced shopping experience.

Harvest remains passionate about offering our customers the widest selection of ethically sourced, earth friendly, organic and local choices. Our unrivalled range covers all your family shopping needs, including many vegan and gluten-free alternatives, while our deli counter offer many locally prepared sweet and savoury specialities. Harvest is your independent and local worker’s co-operative natural food store and we aim to provide a relatively cheap, friendly and personal service. Busy, fresh and relaxed.

Visit us and discover a unique and special shopping experience.

Harvest has been nominated nationally for the Best Independent Health Store

in the YAOH 007 VEGAN ENVIRONMENTAL AWARDS. Yaoh says of us:
'Walcot street in Bath is home to the outstanding Harvest natural foods, which also has a store in Bristol on the Gloucester Road. Beautiful shops, beautiful people and beautiful products keep them both flourishing, backed up by Essential Trading in Bristol, one of the UK's biggest distributors of vegan products.' If you have web access and you wish to vote for us ;-) go to: http://www.bristolveganfayre.co.uk/awards.htm; voters are entered into a free draw for 12 VEGAN HAMPERS each worth over £50.

On the 12th March there will be a week long ‘Harvest Festival’ to celebrate our re-opening with many shop events and tastings planned.

About Harvest: A independent local shop

Veggie ☼ Whole ☼ Natural
Ethical ☼ Organic ☼ Local ☼ Real

Harvest has been supplying the people of Bath with a cornucopia of natural, non-GMO, vegetarian food and ecological products for over 35 years. In1971 we supplied the second Glastonbury festival and our very first customer still shops with us today. We are passionate about offering to you; our customers, ethically sourced, earth friendly, organic, fair traded, healthy, and relatively cheap alternatives for your everyday shopping basket. Our extensive range covers everything you would expect from a modern dynamic natural whole food store; covering all your family needs and much more. Our famous deli sections stock locally-prepared vegetarian savoury and sweet specialities including our scrumptious filled rolls.

We are an independent and local shop that for 30 years has stood up against additive-driven fake food and the industrialization of eating. We are a workers co-operative that is positively different from the normal high street monoculture of clone shops. We aim to offer a friendly and personal service, and enjoy ourselves at the same time. Friendly, busy, fresh, lively, relaxed, a different experience and far more fun; Harvest’s extensive range removes the need for supermarkets at a stroke.

A WORKERS' CO-OPERATIVE

Harvest and Essential Trading are commonly owned and controlled by the employees of the company. This means we are a non-hierachical organisation, where the employees participate in the creation and running of our working practices and our working environment.

It is co-operative business structure that truly allows our trading ethics to govern our business decisions. It also allows us to run our business based on the values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring.

It is the fact that we are a workers co-operative that allows us to operate based on the ethics we believe in, and it is those ethics that make us function as a worker's co-operative. This is why we are a successful business, with a reputation for friendly, honest, reliable and informed service.
