Threshers are the latest top UK retailer to stock award winning Peruvian lager Cusqueña (pronounced “CUS-KEN-YA”) from Manchester based Drinks Marketing agency Chilli Marketing.

Press release – DEC 11TH 2006

Cusqueña which recently won the ‘Superior Taste’ award by The International Taste and Quality Institute of Belgium, is brewed using all natural ingredients including pure glacial water from 18,000 feet in the Andes and is widely regarded amongst top bartenders as one of the very best lagers on sale in the UK.

Threshers follow in the footsteps of Sainsbury’s, ASDA & Tesco who are all stocking Cusqueña in a number of their stores following its successful launch into the top end of the UK bar market.

Chilli Marketing’s Kieron Barton comments; “Threshers commitment to providing a genuine from source category is totally market leading and  a real nod to what is happening in the US where retailers - like top bars - have created ‘genuine from source’ sections in their imported ranges stimulating real interest, higher margins and growth in this category.  Their bold moves in this sector really is quite inspiring and they are a perfect retail partner for a brand like Cusqueña.”

CUS-KEN-YA lager became an instant hit with the UK’s top bartenders and drinkers alike and is now available in top bars and restaurants across the UK.   The brand which is rapidly becoming the ‘It Lager’ amongst celebrities took over as GQ & GLAMOUR magazines celebrity awards sponsors and last week became a partner for ‘The original It Girl’  Tara Palmer Tomkinson’s events company.

Cusqueña has seen sales levels rise by 136% in 2006 putting the brand as one of the fastest growing premium lagers in the UK.

It is forecast by many in the industry to be the bottled lager to watch in 2007.

“5/5, “excellent”
The List Magazine, Edinburgh

“I always demand quality and Cusqueña has that quality; it is a truly exceptional lager and is the only one I’d recommend.”
Class Best Bartender Winner and Flavour Magazine’s Bartender Of The Year 2004

“Cusqueña is simply a clean, crisp and great tasting beer…it is a far better bottled beer at a comparable price to most others.  Unlike fizzy, thin tasting Budweiser (and for that matter Kirin, Tiger, Perroni, Michelob Beck’s and so on) it has a full flavour and a rich aftertaste.” –
