123-reg has become the first to surpass one million .uk domain names registered on a single IPS (Internet Provider Security) tag. The internet registry for .uk domain names, Nominet, notified 123-reg that this landmark figure was reached during the latter stages of January 2008 when the number of domains on the 123-reg tag increased to 1,007,975.

Tag Holders are companies that provide domain name registration services. They include specialist domain name providers, hosting companies, ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and others, such as web designers. 123-reg is one of many companies that host .uk domains - the most widely used extension in the UK - and each has an IPS tag (also known as a Nominet Provider tag or IPS Key) which signifies membership of Nominet. The tag is used to identify the company responsible for the management of a .uk domain. Part of the reason 123-reg has achieved this milestone is the high-level of domain control given to its customers, making it the UK’s largest domain registrar.
