NEW COLLEGE SWINDON SWITCHES UP A GEAR WITH NEW MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM FROM TRIBAL
Written by Catherine Dhanjal

New College Swindon has chosen a new management information system from Tribal, replacing its previous Capita system.  The ebs software will make keeping records on the college’s 13,000 students simpler and more effective.  The College has purchased a comprehensive range of ebs modules and intends to use ebs to develop its web-based capacity for applications such as prospectus, enquiries, applications, enrolments and payments.

Going live in Spring 2008, the system will be accessible to all staff over the college’s intranet, providing invaluable help in administration and management of the 140 full-time and 400 part-time courses that are available at New College.

Jeremy Rogers, director at New College, says, “New College is very pleased to have contracted with Tribal to supply its ebs4 system. We were approaching the end of our contract with another supplier, so we took the opportunity to appraise the various systems on the market. Three systems went through full investment scrutiny. We chose ebs4 because it allowed us to build upon existing systems and processes, and colleagues liked its highly integrated nature and its ease of use. We are currently going through the implementation process and we are pleased with the service that Tribal has provided to date.”

Swindon is the largest town in Wiltshire and the purpose built campus, completed in 2003, gives it the most modern college facilities in the region.   The further education college holds three National Beacon Awards and the latest Ofsted inspection reported all curriculum areas as ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’.

Tribal provides software and services to over 150 further education colleges in the UK, from management information systems to IT audits and specialist CPD training. Clients include Newcastle College, Highbury College and Westminster Adult Education Service.
