Anya Hindmarch has collaborated with Selfridges to develop this years Christmas hamper collection. The hampers will be available in all Selfridges stores and on line from mid October.Tired of hampers containing unwanted mincemeat and trinket-filled crackers, Anya set out to create hampers filled with things that people actually want. Anya has designed the hamper to be traditional basket with a twist and spent many happy hours in Selfridges at night choosing all of the contents.Anya says, “I have always been fascinated by hampers, their history and Britishness, but am always disappointed by yet another basket whose contents I don’t actually want to keep. When Selfridges asked if I wanted to design a hamper, I leapt at the idea of not only designing a hamper but choosing what I would really like to receive in one. The sort of ‘hamper you would really like hamper’. Ewan Venters, Selfridges Food & Restaurants Director comments, "Customers come to Selfridges for amazing fashion and fabulous food and so it makes perfect sense for us to collaborate with one of Britain's leading fashion designers, Anya Hindmarch, to create this revolutionary range of hampers. It’s been a joy to work with Anya, she has an amazing eye for bringing edgy product together which we believe our customers will really want" The collection includes eleven hampers ranging from a ‘Mothers Ruin’ hamper which contains Hendricks gin, a pair of marigold washing up gloves and bespoke biscuits which spell out ‘Hic’, a ‘Best of British’ hamper, ideal for all those overseas friends, whose contents include limited edition and special treats from Tiptree and Lyons, a book of Great British Wit, and a Monty Python DVD, a ‘New Year, New You’ hamper full of detox supplements, seeds and guilt free chocolate, a pedometer, a tape measure, a skipping rope and a bottle of champagne for when you are ready to retox, right up to the ‘Ultimate Girlie Hamper’ which will retail at £1,000 and includes Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Pretty Woman DVDs, pink champagne, cashmere socks, Essie nail polishes, a Diptyque candle, an iPod, Eve Lom galore and a tin of biscuits made in the shape of Anya Hindmarch handbags.
