Peak District farmers Roy Critchlow and Karen Ballington launch their 100% British Guanaco Fibre range available via their website www.heathylee.co.uk Guanaco fibre is finer than cashmere and 3 times warmer than wool. Guanaco are an endangered wild ancestor of the llama and Roy and Karen have been building up their herd of guanaco at Heathylee House Farm in the Peak District for a number of years. They sheared the animals for the first time last year for the precious, luxurious fibre and have had a range of goods made here in Britain. The product range includes handwoven pashmina shawls, hand knitted mobius cowls, yarn, fibre and soon to be launched, handmade felted hats. Karen says 'unlike cashmere, customers can rest assured that they will never find this fibre on the high street. It really is a luxury fibre and all our items are made here in Britain to ensure the highest quality finish'. 'We farm our animals in a manner than not only provides the ideal habitat for these beautiful creatures but also ensures that they environmentally enhance our farm'.
