Prospect Denim ‘Grown and Sewn in Los Angeles’, by way of a girls’ Texas roots

Los Angeles, CA   March 19, 2008-

Southern California, Denim Capital of the World, springs forth its latest creation in the denim arena in the form of old Hollywood Americana. Not just another denim brand, Prospect Denim Co. brings us back to simpler times of early Los Angeles when farming was the number one industry and the silver screen was in it’s early stages of conception. Prospects’ Senior Designer, Ava Carmichael, conveys most of the inspiration of the brand. Born in southern Texas and raised by grandparents who were farmers and sharecroppers during the Depression era, it is easy to see where the Americana feel of Prospect Denim is derived. Even the bandanna that her grandfather carried inspired the well-worn, recognized bandannas that are placed in each back pocket of Prospect jeans.

Prospect Denim not only evokes a look and feel of a bygone era, it actually uses a lot of USA made denims and trims that have been around since the 1920’s.  Keeping it’s standard tradition of “Grown and Sewn in Los Angeles”, Prospect Denim intends to remain true to it’s word by having all of their garments cut, sewn, washed and finished in Los Angeles- a practice that very few denim companies maintain after sales increase dramatically.  Each style is named after a prominent individual who helped shape what is now Southern California and each wash is named after a street or landmark in Los Angeles County.  Even the name ‘Prospect’ was taken from the original title that was given to what is now Hollywood Blvd.  With attention to fit, wash, trim, history, current and classic styling, Prospect Denim has spared no details. Each pair of jeans is a work of art with a story behind every element that deserves a closer look.

Their award-winning website, which was designed by Connecticut based design firm, Media Boom, launched in December of 2007. Within days, Prospect Denim had over 6,000 hits, three write-ups and two awards.  The Prospect Denim Sales Representatives are currently on the road in California promoting the brand. Look for Prospect in stores the Summer and Fall of 2008.

Prospect Denim Co. has offices based in Los Angeles and Dallas, TX. The line offers styles for men and women in price ranges from $168 to $232 and $300 for exclusive washes.
