Dorothy Perkins shares their favourite styles for Spring and Summer 2008.
Spring’s newest trends are strongly influenced by the nautical look and we love naval detailing such as sailor stripes and polka dots. For a ladylike, 1940’s finish, high-waisted trousers and full skirts are a must have. Colours are bold, and include reds, whites and blues, with a flash of aqua for a modern twist. Our favourite items include the one-shouldered navy ruffled dress for evening glamour, and the denim skirt with oversized white shirt and navy pinstripe blazer for stylish casual wear.
Femininity is well and truly back for Spring! This pretty, laid-back look is inspired by 70’s starlet glamour and is perfect for chic daywear. Ladylike, chiffon blouses with delicate ruffles look great teamed with simple denim separates and block heeled sandals. Colourful cardigans are layered over delicate dresses with pretty prints - perfect for lazy days!
The combination of luxurious fabrics and the use of chiffon and delicate, silky layers creates the 20’s look. Intricate detailing is key to this trend, with layers of ruffles on skirts and dresses adding a touch of glamour. Sophisticated blacks, nudes, greys, pastel shades with a gentle sprinkling of sequin and lace, make for an overall image of modern elegance.
