The reader’s electronics and a high-performance, circularly polarized antenna both reside in a single package that results in a simple, inexpensive and low profile RFID installation. Its small footprint uses less than half the real-estate of a typical reader and antenna system. A second antenna port enables 2-antenna applications. Power over Ethernet (POE) capability allows power to be delivered over properly-equipped local area networks, eliminating expensive AC wiring installation. A standard AC/DC power converter is provided if POE is not available. The RFID reader communicates via the popular Alien Reader Protocol. A well-documented SDK featuring .NET and Java libraries enables easy development of custom interfaces to control the reader if desired.
