Nick Tomkins has joined Russell Bedford International as the audit network's Technical Director

Russell Bedford International, the worldwide audit and accounting organisation, has announced the appointment of Nick Tomkins FCA as its Technical Director, based at the London head office.

Nick is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW).

In his previous role, Nick had some five years as a Technical Manager with the Quality Assurance Directorate (formerly known as the Joint Monitoring Unit), a directorate of the ICAEW that monitors the professional standards of audit firms in the UK.  In this position he was responsible for the quality assurance of audit visit reports, technical review of information submitted by firms, answering technical queries, and providing technical guidance to QAD reviewers and practitioners.

In the newly-created position of Technical Director at Russell Bedford International, Nick Tomkins will have a variety of functions.  He will co-ordinate the network's International Audit Quality Control (IAQC) programme and he will perform technical reviews of prospective member firms.  In due course he will also provide a technical help desk to assist member firms, and he will run technical training courses.  It is also intended that he will handle the publication of any standard audit policies and procedures documentation that the network issues in future.
