An IT company is set to double its work force after investing £1.5m in a new Warwickshire headquarters. 9K Limited, which provides maintenance and support for Hewlett Packard systems, will move into offices at The Courtyard at Eliot Business Park, Nuneaton next month (October). The firm has seen its turnover jump from £320,000 to £5.8m in five years, and aims to expand further with the move – creating at least 15 jobs in the next 12 months. 9K deals with various blue chip companies and smaller businesses in the UK and was formed in 2002 by business partners Anthony Griffiths, Taj Bhamra and Alex Lawrence. The trio spotted an opportunity for a third-party maintenance service dedicated to Hewlett Packard’s servers, and after forming a partnership with the IT giant, set-up home in the Midlands. And after solid year-on-year growth, the directors wanted to invest in new headquarters and visited the units built by local company Deeley Properties. Anthony, joint director of 9K, said the firm’s specialisation has helped shield it from the effects of the credit crunch and allow for the expansion. He said: “We are in a niche market solely maintaining Hewlett Packard Enterprise Servers and SAN solutions. There are only a handful of successful companies in Europe who deal specifically in this market place and we are one of them. “Business has grown at a phenomenal rate and we work for companies of all sizes, at home and abroad. “We had been looking to find a new property for around two years and we knew the first time we saw the Courtyard that it would be right for us. “It’s newly built, well finished and will give clients a good impression of our company on first glance.” The 6,000 sq ft unit triples the size of 9K’s previous unit in Coventry of 2,000 sq ft. The company will use part of the extra space to build a data centre which, combined with the new staff, will let the firm work on higher specification servers. Anthony added: “The extra room will definitely allow us to deal with even more specialist areas. “It has been a major investment for us but these changes will open new opportunities for us.” Jo Leaver, director of Deeley Properties, said: “The intention of the Courtyard project was to create high quality office space to cater for expanding and relocating companies such as 9K. “They were not simply looking for extra space – they wanted an office which would represent the professional nature of their business. “9K’s relocation to Eliot Park is great news for the town and will bring the kind of new jobs that we are all keen to see in the area.” Ends Media enquiries: Dan Donovan Tel: 024 7663 3636 |
