Alice Springs, Northern Territory of Australia, Monday, 19 February 2007 (For immediate release) Small, Australian Internet-based firm, Desert Wave Enterprises has joined the audio books market in direct competition with big players like iTunes and Audible. Desert Wave Enterprises has been successfully selling ebooks and software online since 1998 and has recently entered the audio books market to complement its existing product range.
“All the market predictions are that audio books will become huge within the next few years as prices for audio players drop and people try to fit more into their increasingly busy lives. While the established audio sellers have a large piece of the audio books pie, there is still plenty of room for small players like Download Audios”, said Robin Henry, proprietor of Desert Wave Enterprises.
“Many libraries are establishing audio book centers, particularly beneficial for those hard of hearing or visually impaired. An added benefit for all is that it is easier to listen than to read. And quite often the sound of the speaker’s voice is soothing and therapeutic”, Henry said.
People wanting immediate access can select, pay for and download audio books onto their computers and listen to them in their cars, from their laptops, MP3 players etc within minutes. In many cases, the cost of an audio book is much cheaper than the hardcopy version … there’s no freight cost and of course storage isn’t anywhere as huge a problem as it is with hardcopy.
It remains to be seen whether audio books become the way of the future, but all indicators are that they are well on the way. <END> Robin Henry, +971502313861
