Brooks is scheduled to release his fifth children’s book, “Unicorn Races” (ISBN 0-9769017-3-0) in March 2007. Mr. Brooks left Federal service at the end of 2005 to pursue his love of writing and to utilize his talents to write stories that comfort children. Mr. Brooks traveled the world many times over during his 15 year career and was intimately involved in his agency’s response to the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Mr. Brooks received several awards for his efforts in crisis management. However, the work done by Mr. Brooks during his tenure with the Federal government only solidified his belief that children need a safe and secure environment in which to escape their daily tribulations. Mr. Brooks has dedicated himself to writing stories that provide such an environment. ”Unicorn Races,” is a magical tale of a young girl who travels to magical glade where a great welcoming feast has been prepared by elves and fairies. The young girl is transformed into a royal princess who oversees the great race of colorful unicorns. As with his other stories, Mr. Brooks seeks to provide a magical setting that stimulates children’s imaginations. Beautiful illustrations done in watercolor by artist Linda Crockett make this book a perfect addition to any collection.
