Fanore And Kilmurry Students Make Their Mark

County Clare, 29th November 2007 - Students at Kilmurry National School and Fanore National School have been named as winners of the annual 'Design a Bookmark Competition'.  Hosted by Clare County Library, in association with Children’s Books Ireland, the competition was held for the fifth consecutive year during the countywide Children's Book Festival 2007.

From a total of over 2000 entries, the 2007 County winners were Eve Quinn, Kilmurry National School (Senior Category) and Hannah Casey, Fanore National School (Junior Category).  

Siobhan Mulcahy, Clare County Arts Officer; Carrie Stafford, Senior Executive Librarian; and Patricia Fitzgerald, Executive Librarian at Library Headquarters, judged all competition entries.

"The Design a Bookmark Competition continues to gain popularity among schoolchildren each year indicated by the ever-increasing volume of entries", stated Ms. Fitzgerald.

She added, "This year's winning designs will become Clare County Library's official bookmarks for 2007/2008 and will be available in all branches.  The winning designers also receive a EUR50 book token and an award certificate compliments of Clare County Library and The Youth Library Group of The Library Association of Ireland."

Runners Up in the Junior Category were - Amy Flaherty, Ennis; Sarah Ward Murphy, Broadford; Emer Moynihan, Sixmilebridge; Brian Connolly, Killaloe; Aoife Roche, Kilmurry; Maddy Jarocka, Kilrush; Kevin McSweeney, Tulla; Chloe Whelan, Newmarket on Fergus; Deirdre Lynch Miltown Malbay.

Runners Up in the Senior Category were - Aoife Dwyer, Ennis; Jennifer Greene, Kilmurry; James Connor, Kilmurry; Ellen Roche, Kilmurry; Cassandra Walsh, Ennis; Aileen McInerney, Cree; Niamh Kierse, Killaloe; Ailbhe Murray, Miltown; Olivia Rogovski, Ennis.
