Writing the final page of his novel Dark Path, Michael’s life is turned upside down when his ex-wife Angela is stabbed to death in a frenzied attack.
However it is only when he discovers his own character’s initials chillingly scorched into her stomach, that he is then drawn into a twisted game of perverse morals and disturbing torture by a character not unlike his own. Who is the mysterious Shadow and what does he want with Michael? The more truths Michael uncovers the more he realises a darker fate awaits both of them. Some characters should never be created. Some truths should never be revealed. About the Author: Mark Silgram is originally from Manchester, but moved to the Lake District to be with partner Karen and family. He is a case administrator for a local solicitors firm and is dedicated to writing in his spare time. He has written many short stories, which have been submitted to writing magazines, however Dark Path is his first novel from which he gained inspiration from films and other authors of this genre. He is currently working on two novels one with a working title of November Rain and Dark Path’s sequel Until Dark, in which he goes into more depth about the past experiences of his dark characters. Excerpt from the book: "Christian Driscol watched the pub through the ice caked windscreen, contemplating retirement. Angela sat opposite him loading a magazine into a Colt Mustang; her eyes impassive. To kill another human being and feel nothing afterwards he thought you stop living feeling dead inside. Sure you can eat, chew and swallow meat like the rest of them, take a piss, fuck or sleep; but you usually stop feeling and caring when you watch a life drain by your own hands, inhuman you’ve now become. Opening the door he stepped out, crunching snow underneath his shoes. Branches groaned from the trees lining the broken cobbled road. Igniting another cigarette, he went to fetch tools for the job. Sure you can pop a guy in the head, who gives a fuck? Aim, pull the trigger, blood squirts out and he hits the floor, right? First time he did that, he unloaded the entire magazine into the dead mans chest, watching the carcass convolute with each blast of lead. Twisting the key in the lock, the boot sprang open revealing two sports bags. Grabbing a sawn off shot gun from one, he inspected each bullet before loading. Twisting each casing; he felt how cold and smooth the jacket of death felt. Six pieces in total; comprising of two semi-automatic pistols: a Browning Baby and a Colt, two shotguns; a Browning Magnum and a Harrington & Richardson, oh and finally an Uzi. Headlamps glowing, revealing faint snow falling through the darkness, he went to get Angela. Dropping the bags he tapped her window, mouthing “ready”. When she didn’t respond, he understood, noticing two lines of uncut coke she’d prepared on the dashboard. He watched her snort each line, throwing her head back as she snorted last droplets around the rim of her nose. He preferring shooting-up, but then again everyone has their own acquired tastes don’t they? Opening the car door, her boots grinding the snow, she linked him as they headed towards the pub, her now holding her Colt limp by her side." -- END FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS BOOK, CONTACT: Mark Silgram (author) E-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Dark Path can be ordered from Authorhouse at: www.authorhouse.co.uk/BookStore/ItemDetail~bookid~45941.aspx and from Amazon at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Path-Mark-Silgram/dp/143431653X/ref=sr_1_1/026-2576757-1185229?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1184498014&sr=8-1 |
