Louth – April 15th, 2008 British author Matthew Rowe has published his first book using insurance money he claimed after last summer’s terrible flooding and Lulu.com, the online marketplace for digital content. As his debut novel passed between publishers, Mr. Rowe seized the opportunity to give himself more credibility as a writer. He gathered his finest short stories. Then he used Lulu’s simple system to publish his work in paperback and as an e-book. The insurance money he received after losing most of his possessions in last year’s flooding covered the cost and continues to fuel an ongoing marketing campaign. He hopes the resulting feedback can be used to help sell his longer works to the big publishing houses. Matthew Rowe comments: “The floods were an awful event that ruined many peoples’ lives and still affects thousands around the country, but personally, if this marks the beginning of my career as a successful author, then I will consider what happened to me a blessing in disguise. People suffer all the time, so I think it’s good to know that something positive can occur from it, perhaps even put smiles back on faces.” In the tradition of collections such as Neil Gaiman’s Smoke and Mirrors, the stories included in the anthology called Not All Of Them About Zombies, range from fantasy to horror and comedy, and represent many years in the young author’s life. Although the book is aimed at the young adult market, it has been enjoyed by people up to 60 years old, all over the world. Mr. Rowe says: “It is strange how life takes unexpected turns, but when an opportunity presents itself you have to dive on it and hope it’s not a hand grenade. ” - ends - Matthew Rowe is 27 years old and working to become a teacher, currently in Louth, Lincolnshire. He keeps his eyes on the rest of the world and his head in his own.
