All I want this Christmas is ‘Giftfinder’
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – November 16, 2007: I don’t want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need….for someone to buy me a gift that doesn’t include a knitted reindeer scarf.
The traditions of Christmas include overindulgence in turkey & Babycham, unforgettable office parties, reruns of Mr Bean and spending 27th December returning gifts that you absolutely hate. Another Christmas tradition involves prowling unenthusiastically from shop to shop and choosing gifts you suspect the recipient won’t like. Guilt is overridden by the fact that you know s/he will get a refund and rapidly buy a more accurate replacement.
Now imagine a traditional Christmas that includes the food, drink, parties, reruns and also giving a gift that you know will be appreciated? Let us introduce you to the fabulous world of Giftfinder - where you choose your gifts and others buy it for you. Giftfinder ensures a collective sigh of relief at the most hectic time of the year.
Log onto http://alliwant.imagini.net/, answer a few short questions by clicking on one of 15 images per category; once all images/answers are compiled, your true personality is revealed by a short paragraph along with around four dozen gifts that match your style, aka. your ‘wishlist.’ The team behind Giftfinder includes psychology specialists so each image truly reflects a strong personality characteristic, scientifically speaking.
With wishlist, click ‘Love it’ for selected top tier favourites and shuffle your gifts into priority. Then simply let all your family and friends know so they can purchase these items for you – unless you want to treat yourself. You can also message others individual ‘Love it’ products for additional nudging reminders. Once the gift giver clicks to purchase, the item vanishes from your page so the life you previously knew of receiving duplicate presents is now over. Friends can also pledge a gift which is available for others to view but not the recipient, both preventing duplication purchases and highly irritating extra nosey recipients who just can’t bear to wait for surprise gifts.
Giftfinder also has a Facebook application http://apps.facebook.com/all-i-want/mine.php so complete your profile, prioritize your wish list and Facebook everyone with subtle hints, possibly daily?
With Giftfinder, assess your similarities and differences with others: Do you have replica wish list gifts as your friends? How surprised were you with your own and friend’s wish list results? Did the results bring out the new you or revive the old you? Re-complete your Giftfinder profile often to see if your mood’s changed as the wish list of gifts will reflect this. It’s also another excuse to get more gifts.
We live in a visual world where colours, images and designs reflect our life. Our tastes are different and we regularly disregard this when purchasing presents for others. We rely on the thought of gift-giving as sometimes more significant than the gift itself. Giftfinder is bringing back the joy and fun of giving and receiving again, traditionally speaking.
