Richard Rhoads, P.E., to Take on Business Unit Leader Role for Walnut Creek Staff

LONG BEACH, CA - Richard Rhoads, who has more than two decades of diverse project management and civil engineering experience with particular emphasis on marine construction and dredging projects, will transition into the position of business unit leader for Moffatt & Nichol's Walnut Creek office over the next few months. He is assuming the position from Richard Dornhelm, who has held the position for nearly 23 years. Dornhelm will remain an integral part of the organization, focusing on furthering the development of the firm's urban waterfront and marina practice both locally and overseas.

"I have worked side-by-side with Richard and the Walnut Creek staff since 1997, supporting the office's growth in the areas of marine and coastal engineering and environmental resources, urban waterfront developments, and ports and harbors. I look forward to continuing to grow the office," said Rhoads.

Mr. Rhoads' diverse project experience includes significant involvement in major civil, marine construction and dredging projects, such as the San Francisco International Airport Runway Reconfiguration project and most recently, the seismic retrofit of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District’s Transbay Tube.

"This is a win-win for our office and for the clients we serve," said Dornhelm. "We will have a very talented engineer as business unit leader in Walnut Creek, and I will continue to have the opportunity to grow and develop a key practice area for the firm."
