Heathylee Guanaco goes Mobius

Heathylee Guanaco are excited to launch their new Mobius Cowl, handknitted from 100% British guanaco yarn. Guanaco fibre is set to become the new cashmere. Finer than cashmere and 3 times warmer than wool, this luxurious fibre is traditionally the preserve of royalty and the super rich. As the guanaco is endangered, the fibre is in short supply and garments made from the fibre will never be widely available. Real luxury for the discerning ! http://www.heathylee.co.uk The mobius shape is an ingenious mathematical curiosity. A continuous circle with a built in half twist, it means that the mobius cowl can also be worn as a scarf and will lie neatly under your coat with no ends. There are no seams as the cowl is knitted using a special technique. No middle, no ends, no seams. So versatile, it can also be worn as a head scarf. Enterprising farmers, Roy Critchlow and Karen Ballington from the Peak District, manage the Heathylee herd of guanaco on their traditional 200 acre hill farm. With fur hitting the cat walks this year, customers need not fear for the guanaco. A protected, endangered species, the guanaco are sheared once every 2 years to yield the highly prized whisper like fibre. Roy Critchlow says ‘The welfare of our animals is of paramount importance to us. Unlike wild guanaco sheared in South America, we can ensure our guanaco are well cared for post shearing’. The guanaco mobius cowl is the latest addition to the Heathylee Guanaco range, available via their website http://www.heathylee.co.uk. The cowl is £85 and will be hand knitted to order in Britain. Supply is limited due to the scarcity of the fibre. Heathylee Guanaco also retail 100% British Guanaco handwoven shawls via their website at £575. For the more adventurous, the mobius cowl is also available as a hand knitting kit.
