Industry experts shared how companies could enhance their IT security and network speeds using Blue Coat’s solutions.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 5, 2008: Emirates Computers announced that along with its vendor partner – Blue Coat Systems, it held a seminar on “Security and WAN Acceleration” for its customers at the Royal Meridien Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The companies shared how regional companies and organizations could enhance their IT security and network speeds using Blue Coat products. “In today’s fast-paced business environment, success depends on split-second decisions and information availability. This is main reason why IT security systems and faster networks are crucial in maintaining uninterrupted business continuity,” explained Mr. Nidal Taha, Regional Director, Blue Coat Systems ME & Turkey. “At the Security and WAN Acceleration event, experts familiarized delegates with Blue Coat technologies that could enhance their company’s IT security and network speeds. Attendees to the event were also able to meet with peers from their industry and learn about installations in businesses such as theirs.” The Emirates Computers and Blue Coat Security and WAN Acceleration event touched upon several networking and security topics including ways of optimizing a variety of systems such as WAN applications (such as branch systems, ERP, MS Office, intranet, web applications, email and so on), data centre backup, SSL traffic, streaming video, web traffic, applications for mobile users (bank branches), and removing the junk from the WAN. A variety of regional industry experts such as IT Managers, Marketing Managers and Technical Managers attended the event. “The growing complexity of IT systems and their security has created multiple challenges for CIOs and IT Managers across the Middle East region. They must address the explosion in the number of access points, communication technologies convergence, human behaviour, company leaders still thinking in terms of antivirus software and firewalls, limited resources, and flat or even decreasing budgets,” added Mr. Ahmed Qadri ,Networking and security Division Sales Manager at Emirates Computers. “While basics remain essential, experts such as CIOs and IT Managers must also handle evolving authentication methods, well financed corporate espionage agents and cyber terrorists, as well as employee awareness and hence, the event was so important.” The Security and WAN Acceleration event also covered topics such as protecting against internal and external threats, why standards-based solutions are becoming pervasive, advantages of centralized network management, leveraging network behavior anomaly detection and integrating third party solutions for an end-to-end solution.
