The brand new R2 from RIDO: "Nothing else should come between you and your bicycle"
The long overdue new edition of the award winning RIDO cycle saddle is now set to quietly take the cycling world by storm. A uniquely British innovation, the R2 is the updated, better looking and even more comfortable version of the original model of which thousands have been sold around the world, direct from RIDO's dedicated website, over the last four years.

New cycling freedom
The patented RIDO sculpture magically distributes the downward pressure of the rider’s weight away from the delicate and sensitive area of the anatomy and onto those parts for which sitting is really intended. RIDO refers to this as 'Pressure Shift Geometry' (TM) and where perineal (crotch) pain and discomfort were once serious and restrictive problem issues for countless numbers of cyclists, owners of the original model RIDO around the world are already enjoying the uninhibited freedom of being able to ride as far and as long as their legs and fitness level will take them.

So what's new about the 'R2'?
In its new,design-updated and even more comfortable 'R2' form for 2008, both function and aesthetics have been positively addressed whilst maintaining the same patented combination of shape, form and dimension that are the foundations of the RIDO saddle's magic.

More comfort / Comfort driven design development has resulted in the rounding of the ends of the 'Y' (you just don't feel the extremities of the saddle at all) whilst the R2's specially engineered new upholstered areas will undoubtedly please everyone. The original model was pretty good, but the R2's comfort level is quite remarkable. Not only has the 'first touch firmness' of the original RIDO been addressed (and that initial 'getting used to the feel of the saddle' period now more-or-less totally negated) but now the feel beneath the sit bones has been 'softened up' too.

More lift / Structurally, the Dual Density composite of skeletal frame and upper 'skin' has been 'tweaked' slightly to afford improved shape retention at the load bearing, rider/saddle contact areas. The unique 'lift' factor is now maintained even better over the longest and most intense rides.

More style / And finally there's the conversion of all these new features into a good looking finished product. The original RIDO model has always been seen as having put function before aesthetics - something a bit ‘quirky’, with fans sometimes having to brave the snide remarks of the more style-conscious and convention-led cycling masses. But no more! The R2 will convert even the most ardent of cycling fashionistas and critics. The cushion pads are even interchangeable: the standard black can be replaced with pads of different colours (to be later supplied within a range of accessories). Cyclists will be able to customise their saddle to colour coordinate with their bikes.

Where the original RIDO seriously opened the eyes of an enquiring and adventurous minority around the world who were just looking for a genuinely more comfortable saddle, the R2 has been styled to not only deliver even more comfort but to win over absolutely everyone who rides a bicycle – racers and time triallers, triathletes, mountain bikers, tourers, commuters and leisure riders, men and women – to the principle of no longer having to endure the discomfort of supporting the full downward pressure of bodyweight on the perineum (crotch).
